Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings

Welcome to the Week 6 Fantasy Football Rankings from FantasyProjection!

I would like to take a moment of silence to honor the late great OBJ who will be lost for the season after a devastating broken ankle in week 5…(silent moment)…Ok well it wasn’t all bad news in fantasy this week, we saw huge games from Melvin Gordon, Deshaun Watson, and Leonard Fournette (definitely got a few of those right last week!). We also saw some surprising games from Aaron Jones, Jerrick McKinnon, and Brian Hoyer?!?! Those last few were a little harder to predict! Either way whether you were a victim of injuries or the beneficiary of surprising performances you have found yourself in the right place to start your week 6 research. Below you will find a comprehensive ranking of the top fantasy players at each position for week 6. Study these rankings in depth and use them to make your start sit decisions! Good luck this week!

Quarterbacks
  1. Drew Brees, NO QB vs. DET
  2. Aaron Rodgers, GB QB at MIN
  3. Tom Brady, NE QB at NYJ
  4. Deshaun Watson, HOU QB vs. CLE
  5. Matthew Stafford, DET QB at NO
  6. Cam Newton, CAR QB vs. PHI
  7. Kirk Cousins, WAS QB vs. SF
  8. Matt Ryan, ATL QB vs. MIA
  9. Carson Wentz, PHI QB at CAR
  10. Carson Palmer, ARI QB vs. TB
  11. Alex Smith, KC QB vs. PIT
  12. Jameis Winston, TB QB at ARI
  13. Philip Rivers, LAC QB at OAK
  14. Josh McCown, NYJ QB vs. NE
  15. Trevor Siemian, DEN QB vs. NYG

Although Cam Newton may have had some off field issues in week 5 and seemed to regress from a leadership mentality point of view he did make huge progress on the field. Newton threw for 355 yards and 3 TDs against the Detroit Lions. He again did not have any running game to help pad his stats, but if he continues to throw the way he did in week 5 he will not need any additional stats to put up big fantasy weeks. Cam takes on the Eagles in week 6 who are the 4th worst pass defense on a yards per game basis. To put this into perspective, the Lions who Cam threw for 350+ yards and 3 TDs against are the 6th worst defense using this metric. This leads me to believe that Cam will again have a huge passing game in week 6. The Eagles have also been a potent offense and I believe this will be a shootout which only helps the case for starting Cam. Off the field issues aside I see Cam Newton tearing up the Eagles this week. Fantasy Projection: 327 yards passing 3 TDs

Obviously if I am projecting the Panthers/Eagles game to be a shootout then I have to have Carson Wentz real close behind Cam Newton. Wentz has been  real surprise this year and continued to perform at a stud-like level in week 5. He threw for 300+ yards and 4 TDs against the shambles of the old Arizona Cardinals vaunted pass D in the Battle of the Birds. The Panthers pass defense look good on paper, but one of the games they get credit for is a 9-3 SHOOT-OUT against the Bills. Other than that game they have allowed scores of 34, 30, and 24 against them. Although arguably better than the Cardinals, I believe the Panthers are another defense that Wentz can take advantage of. I expect a top 10 performance from him this week. Fantasy Projection: 280 yards 2-3 TDs

Running Back
  1. Kareem Hunt, KC RB vs. PIT
  2. Le’Veon Bell, PIT RB at KC
  3. Todd Gurley, LAR RB vs. LAR
  4. Leonard Fournette, JAC RB vs. LAR
  5. Melvin Gordon, LAC RB at OAK
  6. C.J. Anderson, DEN RB vs. NYG
  7. Devonta Freeman, ATL RB vs. MIA
  8. Jordan Howard, CHI RB at BAL
  9. DeMarco Murray, TEN RB vs. IND
  10. Jay Ajayi, MIA RB at ATL
  11. Doug Martin, TB RB at ARI
  12. Lamar Miller, HOU RB vs. CLE
  13. Mark Ingram, NO RB vs. DET
  14. Ameer Abdullah, DET RB at NO
  15. Duke Johnson, CLE at HOU

Oh Melvin thank you for showing everyone why you were a first round pick this year. Week 5 was a stand out week for Melvin Gordon who had 105 rushing yards 6 catches for 58 receiving yards and 2 TDs. This week he takes on the Oakland raiders who are struggling on offense due to the loss of their starting QB Derek Carr. I expect the Chargers ill get up on the Raiders in this game early and they will look to Melvin to run out the clock in the second half. Besides the game script, the Raiders are the 8th worst team against the run this season on a yards per game basis allowing 125 yards rushing per game. Both the game script and the season long stats lead me to believe that Melvin will be able to follow up his stellar performance with another note worthy one in week 6. Fantasy Projection: 91 yards rushing 5 catches 35 yards receiving 1 TD.

Please do NOT forget about C.J. Anderson this week against the Giants! Anderson is coming off of his bye week in week 5 and is rested and ready to go against the 0-5 G-Men. The Broncos will be up by a significant margin in this game especially after the loss of OBJ and Marshall in week 5 for the Giants offense. The Broncos will look to lean on Anderson and some mix of Jamaal Charles to run the game out leading to plenty of touches for Anderson. Lets not forget the the Giants were the team in week 5 that Melvin Gordon (noted above) had a blow up game against for over 150+ total yards and 2 TDs. I expect C.J. to follow in his footsteps and have a big game. Fantasy Projection: 85 yards rushing 4 catches for 25 yards and 1 TD receiving.

Wide Receivers
  1. Antonio Brown, PIT WR at KC
  2. DeAndre Hopkins, HOU WR vs. CLE
  3. Julio Jones, ATL WR vs. MIA
  4. Jordy Nelson, GB WR at MIN
  5. Mike Evans, TB WR at ARI
  6. Michael Thomas, NO WR vs. DET
  7. Keenan Allen, LAC WR at OAK
  8. T.Y. Hilton, IND WR at TEN
  9. Tyreek Hill, KC WR vs. PIT
  10. Golden Tate, DET WR at NO
  11. Larry Fitzgerald, ARI WR vs. TB
  12. Stefon Diggs, MIN WR vs. GB
  13. Demaryius Thomas, DEN WR vs. NYG
  14. Pierre Garcon, SF WR at WAS
  15. Brandin Cooks, NE WR at NYJ
  16. Alshon Jeffery, PHI WR at CAR
  17. Kelvin Benjamin, CAR WR vs. PHI
  18. Terrelle Pryor, WAS WR vs. SF
  19. Michael Crabtree, OAK WR vs. LAC
  20. Jarvis Landry, MIA WR at ATL
  21. Davante Adams, GB WR at MIN
  22. Chris Hogan, NE WR at NYJ
  23. Emmanuel Sanders, DEN WR vs. NYG
  24. Rishard Matthews, TEN WR vs. IND
  25. Adam Thielen, MIN WR vs. GB

Terrelle Pryor finally gave fantasy owners a tiny glimmer of hope in week 4 when he pulled down 3 receptions for 70 yards and 1 TD. I hope that this was the beginning of his re-emergence on the fantasy scene and not just a flash in the pan. I assume that having the bye week in week 5 to continue to get on the same page with Kirk Cousins can only help his cause. Antoher factor that can help his cause in week 6 is taking on the 49ers who are 7th worst against receivers giving up 266 receiving yards per game. I think we will see that the week Pryor to the bye (see what I did there) was not a flash in the pan and was actually the beginning of something great cooking in Washington. Fantasy Projection: 5 catches 65 yards 1 TD

Larry Fitzgerald has been VERY up or down boom or bust this season, posting a game of 13 receptions for 149 yards and 1 TD all the way to a game of 3 catches for 21 yards. It has been very hard to pin point when he will have that huge game, but you know that Carson Palmer loves him and he always has the ability to win you your week. If there was any week for him to blow up again this year it would absolutely be this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccs are 2nd worst in the league against receivers allowing 315 yards per game to opposing pass catchers. They have also allowed 7 TDs to receivers in only 4 games this year. Fitz will have a high volume game this week against this struggling secondary. Fantasy Projection: 8 catches 93 yards 1 TD

Tight Ends
  1. Rob Gronkowski, NE TE at NYJ
  2. Delanie Walker, TEN TE vs. IND
  3. Travis Kelce, KC TE vs. PIT
  4. Zach Ertz, PHI TE at CAR
  5. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, NYJ TE vs. NE
  6. Jordan Reed, WAS TE vs. SF
  7. Cameron Brate, TB TE at ARI
  8. Evan Engram, NYG TE at DEN
  9. Kyle Rudolph, MIN vs. GB
  10. Jared Cook, OAK TE vs. LAC
  11. Martellus Bennett, GB TE at MIN
  12. Coby Fleener, NO TE vs. DET

Austin Seferian-Jenkins… I will be calling him ASJ to avoid typos… has proven to be a fairly steady TE for the Jets in a league that seems to be void of steady talent at the position. ASJ has averaged 5 catches a game and logged his first TD of the season in week 5. I expect ASJ will be a safer option in week 6 with a potential for a high ceiling. The main reason for this high ceiling is the helpless Patriots pass defense that he will be playing against. The Patriots are worst in the league against receivers and have allowed 335 yards per game. I expect another good game for ASJ in week 6. Fantasy Projection: 6 catches 67 yards 1 TD
