Week 8 Fantasy Football Rankings

Welcome to week 8 of the 2016-17 fantasy football season! This is one of the most challenging weeks for fantasy players as there are 6 teams on BYE, which makes your start-sit decisions even more difficult. This is one of two weeks in a row where 6 teams will be on BYE, but fear not! You have found the right place to help you get through these tumultuous weeks. Below you will find the FantasyProjection rankings for week 8, which can be used to find players to start during these desperate times. I wish you all luck, because let’s be honest, we will all need it.

Quarterbacks
  1. Aaron Rodgers, GB QB at ATL
  2. Tom Brady, NE QB at BUF
  3. Matt Ryan, ATL QB vs. GB
  4. Andrew Luck, IND QB vs. KC
  5. Drew Brees, NO QB vs. SEA
  6. Andy Dalton, CIN QB vs. WAS
  7. Russell Wilson, SEA QB at NO
  8. Jameis Winston, TB QB vs. OAK
  9. Derek Carr, OAK QB at TB
  10. Cam Newton, CAR QB vs. ARI
  11. Carson Palmer, ARI QB at CAR
  12. Ryan Fitzpatrick, NYJ QB at CLE
  13. Alex Smith, KC QB at IND
  14. Matthew Stafford, DET QB at HOU
  15. Trevor Siemian, DEN QB vs. SD

Aaron Rodgers is on top of the FantasyProjection rankings for week 8. Rodgers looks to have regained some of his fantasy football prowess since coming off of the BYE in week 5. In the past 3 weeks Rodgers has averaged 293 yards per game and has thrown a total of 6 touchdowns over that stretch. In addition to his increase in productivity, he has a mouth watering match-up against the Falcons poor pass defense. The Falcons are 31st in the league in average passing yards allowed per game and have also given up 15 passing touchdowns over the season (tied for 29th). I project 350 passing yards and 3 passing TDs in week 8 for Rodgers.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is back in the driver seat of the Jets offense after a week 7 injury sidelined former starting QB Geno Smith.  Although Fitzpatrick has not been the best QB this year (11 interceptions in 6 games…), he has one of the best match-ups of the week at the QB positions going against the helpless Browns defense. The Browns are tied for most passing touchdowns allowed this season at 18 and are giving up 286 yards per game to opposing QBs. I project Fitzpatrick throws for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns in week 8.

Running Backs
  1. DeMarco Murray, TEN RB vs. JAC
  2. Spencer Ware, KC RB at IND
  3. Christine Michael, SEA RB at ARI
  4. David Johnson, ARI RB at CAR
  5. Ezekiel Elliott, DAL RB vs. PHI
  6. Jacquizz Rodgers, TB RB vs. OAK
  7. Devontae Booker, DEN RB vs. SD
  8. Matt Forte, NYJ RB at CLE
  9. Melvin Gordon, SD RB at DEN
  10. Devonta Freeman, ATL RB vs. GB
  11. LeGarrette Blount, NE RB at BUF
  12. Lamar Miller, HOU RB vs. DET
  13. Frank Gore, IND RB vs. KC
  14. Latavius Murray, OAK RB at TB
  15. Jonathan Stewart, CAR RB vs. ARI

Spencer Ware has emerged as one of the best options at the RB position this season. Over the past two weeks Ware has averaged over 100 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving per game. This week he takes on the Colts who are giving up 118 yards rushing per game and have allowed 7 rushing touchdowns on the season. I expect another big game from Ware for 120 yards rushing, 2 receptions for 30 yards, and 1 -2TD(s).

Devontae Booker has officially stepped into the lead back role in the very run heavy offense of the Broncos. Booker is a rookie and has yet to prove himself as a reliable fantasy starter, but I believe on at least volume alone he has the ability to finish in the top 10 runnings back this week. In his limited work Booker is averaging a healthy 4.8 yards per carry and showed last week that he has the ability to punch it in the end zone. I project 90 yards and 1 TD for Booker in week 8.

Wide Receivers
  1. Mike Evans, TB WR vs. OAK
  2. A.J. Green, CIN WR vs. WAS
  3. Julio Jones, ATL WR vs. GB
  4. Brandon Marshall, NYJ WR at CLE
  5. Larry Fitzgerald, ARI WR at CAR
  6. DeAndre Hopkins, HOU WR vs. DET
  7. T.Y. Hilton, IND WR vs. KC
  8. Michael Crabtree, OAK WR at TB
  9. Doug Baldwin, SEA WR at NO
  10. Jordy Nelson, GB WR at ATL
  11. Demaryius Thomas DEN WR vs. SD
  12. Ty Montgomery, GB WR/RB at ATL
  13. Terrelle Pryor, CLE WR vs. NYJ
  14. Brandin Cooks, NO WR vs. SEA
  15. Amari Cooper, OAK WR at TB
  16. Randall Cobb, GB WR at ATL
  17. Allen Robinson, JAC WR at TEN
  18. Marvin Jones, DET WR at HOU
  19. Dez Bryant, DAL WR vs. PHI
  20. Emmanuel Sanders, DEN WR vs. SD
  21. Kelvin Benjamin, CAR WR vs. ARI
  22. Alshon Jeffrey, CHI WR vs. MIN
  23. Will Fuller, HOU WR vs. DET
  24. Jeremy Maclin, KC WR at IND
  25. Jordan Matthews, PHI WR at DAL

Mike Evans has proven to be a stud yet again at the WR position in 2016. Evans is averaging over 90 yards receiving per game and is tied for the league lead with 6 touchdowns (includes a BYE). Evans is facing one of the worst defenses in the league this week in the Raiders who have allowed 308 yards receiving per game and 13 total touchdowns. I do not expect Evans to slow down against this weak defense. I project Evans to have 110 yards receiving and 1-2 TDs in week 8.

A.J. Green is second only to Mike Evans this week in the WR rankings. He is second in the league in total receiving yards at 775 which is good for over 110 yards per game. He will continue to be one of the best wide receiver in the league this week against the Redskins. The Redskins are an average pass D this year allowing 260 yards per game and 7 total touchdowns to opposing receivers. There is also the possibility that the could be missing Josh Norman this week which could allow Green to run wild. I project 100 yards receiving and 1TD in week 8 for Green.

Tight Ends
  1. Rob Gronkowski, NE TE at PIT
  2. Jordan Reed, WAS TE at CIN *
  3. Jimmy Graham, SEA TE at NO
  4. Greg Olsen, CAR TE vs. ARI
  5. Delanie Walker, TEN TE vs. JAC
  6. Kyle Rudolph, MIN TE at CHI
  7. Jack Doyle, IND TE vs. KC
  8. Gary Barnidge, CLE TE vs. NYJ
  9. Travis Kelce, KC TE at IND
  10. Martellus Bennett, NE TE at BUF
  11. C.J. Fiedorowicz, HOU TE vs. DET
  12. Cameron Brate, TB TE vs. OAK

I expect Gary Barnidge to put up TE1 numbers in week 8 against the Jets defense. Barnidge has been fairly consistent this year and has had over 50 yards receiving in each of his last 5 games. He also gets back the QB who he has shown the best connection with in Josh McCown. I project Barnidge to have 60 receiving yards and the possibility of a TD in week 8.
